What about the snorkel?
We flew from Sydney to Cairns so that we could snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. We went with a smaller charter that goes to parts of the outer reef that aren't as overcrowded (namely Hastings Reef, several locations on the reef itself).
Very bumpy boat ride on the way out, but amazing sights down below the surface.
Sadly a lot of the coral on the reef is bleached due to global warming. It's technically still alive so it could still go back to its original color should the temperatures cool down a bit...but in today's political environment it'll take more than a miracle for that to happen. And time isn't on our side.
With that said, we had an awesome day out...and the side benefit to the stinger suit: no sunburns!
